About Richard Electric
Three generations of the Richard family, one shop on Highway 157
1949
Carl Richard opened an electrical supply business in Cullman that also did electrical installations. Dennis and David Richard took it over in 1974 and brought Carrier into the shop four years later. Today Barrett Richard, the third generation, runs the company, and the same family name is still on the sign.

The ledger
Six entries in seventy-odd years
Carl Richard opens an electrical supply business that also does electrical installations.
Dennis and David Richard take over the company after Carl passes.
Dennis and David become Carrier dealers.
The company is incorporated as Richard Electric Company, Inc.
The shop moves from downtown Cullman out to AL Hwy 157.
Barrett Richard, the third generation, becomes owner.
The 1978 entry changed what the shop could offer. Electrical work was the founding trade, and heating and cooling grew alongside it once the family held the Carrier dealership. The 1986 move gave the company room for the metal shop and the parts room that it still runs on.
The shop today
Heat, cool and power under one roof
Richard Electric still starts from electrical work and still answers to the family. The company is a Carrier dealer, and its technicians are licensed Carrier Enterprise sales, installation and repair people. It is also a certified Generac installer, and it works on Generac generators only.
The company holds Alabama HVAC, refrigeration and electrical licences, and the general contractor's licence as UBC. Emergency service calls are taken, and same-day appointments are offered when the schedule allows.

Third generation
Barrett Richard, owner since 2015
Barrett Richard became the owner in 2015, the third member of the Richard family to hold the company. The office on AL Hwy 157 is where customers reach him and the staff.
